A Crazy Little Cafe Called Love
A Crazy Little Cafe Called Love at Boise Little Theater
The moment everyone's carefully laid plans slam into each other at exactly the wrong time, that's where Luigi Jannuzzi's comedy springs to life. At the Love Cafe on one very unlucky day, Linda arrives hoping her blind date goes well, Bob scouts talent for his movie, and a waitress musters courage to approach a monk. Then wedding relatives show up with their own baggage. Director Jonathan Perry orchestrates this single-set pressure cooker where nobody gets what they came for.
What makes this production crackle is watching intentions cross and recross until the whole cafe becomes a minefield of mistaken identity and accidental interference. The blind date spirals when the wrong person sits down. The casting session attracts the worst possible candidate. The waitress picks her moment just as chaos erupts. Every character thinks they're steering their own story until someone else's disaster smashes straight through their scene.
Jannuzzi built this farce on collisions, and Perry's staging makes sure you catch every ricochet. You'll see the pileup coming and still gasp when it lands. One set, eight tangled agendas, and the exact second everything goes brilliantly wrong. See where the plans fall apart February 26 at Boise Little Theater.
