Mrs. Doubtfire - The Musical

Mrs. Doubtfire - The Musical at Morrison Center For The Performing Arts

Mrs. Doubtfire - The Musical takes the story of Daniel Hillard, an out-of-work actor who adopts the identity of a nanny to spend time with his children, and brings it to the stage with the kind of tension live theater does best. You're watching someone maintain an elaborate disguise in real time, knowing one slip could end it all. The family stakes hit differently when you see an actor navigate Daniel's double life without cuts or camera tricks. Every moment he risks being caught keeps you leaning forward, and every scene with his kids reminds you why he'd take such a risk.

The musical format amplifies what made the premise work in the first place. Songs dig into the heartbreak of a parent separated from his children and the absurd lengths people go to for the ones they love. The comedy of keeping up the disguise gets sharper when there's nowhere to hide onstage. If you're bringing a friend, you'll have someone to exchange looks with during those near-miss moments, and plenty to discuss afterward about family, identity and whether you could ever pull off something that bold.

Morrison Center for the Performing Arts hosts this production on January 27, 2027, at 7:00 PM. You'll get a Monday night that's anything but ordinary, with a story that balances genuine emotion against the tension of Daniel's scheme.
