A Christmas Carol

A Christmas Carol at Danny Peterson Theatre at the Morrison Center

A cold-hearted miser and a holiday story of redemption collide in A Christmas Carol, and that tension gives the evening its charge from the start. Boise State University presents the premiere run of Gordon Reinhart’s stage adaptation of Charles Dickens, where Scrooge is forced to face the consequences of his choices through ghostly visits. It is a classic tale pushed into sharper focus by fear, regret, and the chance to change. See it live in Boise at Danny Peterson Theatre at the Morrison Center on November 21.

What makes the piece compelling in the room is the way it balances dread with hope. The story moves through encounters that test Scrooge’s resolve, letting the audience sit with each turn of the transformation instead of only hearing about it later. That push and pull between warning and redemption gives the production its emotional momentum, especially for anyone drawn to Dickens’s most famous moral reckoning. Be there in person.

A staged version of this story invites you to follow the arc closely, from the first signs of resistance to the moment the lesson becomes unavoidable. Because this is a premiere run, it offers a fresh encounter with a familiar narrative, shaped for the stage and centered on the haunting force of the visits themselves. The result is a holiday-season production built around suspense, reflection, and human change.
