A Little Princess

A Little Princess at Boise Little Theater

You've treasured this story since childhood, and now you get to see it through new eyes, theirs. When Sara Crewe walks onto the Boise Little Theater stage, facing her sudden fall from wealthy student to penniless servant, the kids beside you won't just watch a character endure loss. They'll witness someone choosing kindness when the world turns cruel, imagination when circumstances feel impossible, and dignity when everyone says she doesn't deserve it.

Nikki Wesselman's direction honors what made you fall in love with this tale while giving Frances Hodgson Burnett's classic the theatrical treatment it deserves. The John Vreeke adaptation finds comedy in even the darkest corners, so younger theatergoers stay invested while the deeper themes land exactly where they should, in those post-show conversations on the drive home. Sara leaves India for a London school and loses everything after news about her father, setting up the hardship she'll face with grace.

This November 28 performance at 7:30 PM offers something screens can't replicate: watching a child process what true character means when a live performer stands ten feet away, embodying every hard choice. Boise Little Theater creates the intimacy this comedy-drama needs, where every expression registers and every lesson sticks.
