A Little Princess

A Little Princess at Boise Little Theater

Your niece keeps asking why some kids have more than others. Your best friend's daughter wants to know if imagination really helps when things get hard. This Sunday matinee gives you answers that don't sound like lectures. The production comes to Boise Little Theater in Boise on December 6.

John Vreeke's stage adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett's timeless story follows Sara Crewe as she leaves India for a London boarding school. When devastating news about her father strips away her privileged position, she discovers whether kindness and dignity survive when nobody's watching. Imagination helps her endure hardship, and the comedy moments land because they're earned, this production trusts young audiences to handle real emotions while keeping adults equally invested.

Nikki Wesselman's direction ensures the two-hour experience moves like the best family outings do: everyone leaves thinking about different scenes. Your grandson might fixate on Sara's imaginative escapes. You might find yourself considering how dignity persists through changing circumstances. Either way, you'll both have plenty to unpack over hot chocolate afterward. This comedy-drama for all ages creates natural opportunities for families and friends to talk about resilience, empathy and what truly matters.
