A Christmas Carol

A Christmas Carol at Danny Peterson Theatre at the Morrison Center

Some stories open a door for every kind of audience, and A Christmas Carol does that with ease. Boise State University’s premiere run of Gordon Reinhart’s stage adaptation of Charles Dickens arrives at Danny Peterson Theatre at the Morrison Center in Boise, Idaho, on December 6, inviting you to share a night where a classic tale feels newly personal.

What makes this production appealing is the way it balances ghost story unease with the hope of holiday redemption. Scrooge is pushed to face the consequences of his choices through a sequence of ghostly visits, and that simple dramatic spine gives longtime fans and first-time viewers very different reasons to lean in. If you know the story by heart, you get to see how it lands onstage; if you do not, you get to discover why it has endured.

That makes this a smart choice for bringing someone whose connection to the story is not the same as yours. Maybe they grew up with the book, maybe they know only the title, or maybe they are coming for an evening that feels seasonal without being predictable. The piece offers enough tension to keep things gripping and enough redemptive weight to leave room for reflection.

Share the story with someone new and see what they notice.
