A Christmas Carol

A Christmas Carol at Danny Peterson Theatre at the Morrison Center

A Christmas Carol begins with a detail many people already know, but onstage it changes shape fast. Boise State University’s premiere run of Gordon Reinhart’s stage adaptation of Charles Dickens brings that classic story to Danny Peterson Theatre at the Morrison Center in Boise, Idaho, on December 3, where Scrooge’s world feels immediate and unsettled the moment his choices come under pressure.

What makes the story worth seeing in person is the way a familiar holiday tale can become a live ghost story. Instead of reading about Scrooge’s reckoning, you watch each visitation land in real time, turning regret, fear, and the hope of redemption into something close and human. That shift gives the tale a sharper edge and a warmer center.

This is a production that invites you to follow the tension between dread and renewal scene by scene. Dickens’ familiar framework stays intact, but the stage version lets the emotional stakes build through each encounter, making Scrooge’s transformation feel earned rather than distant. It is a fresh way to experience a story you may already know well.

If you want a seasonal night out that feels classic without feeling routine, this premiere offers exactly that. See the story live and let the haunting and the heart of it play out in the room.

Experience A Christmas Carol live in Boise at Danny Peterson Theatre on December 3, where Dickens’ ghost story and holiday redemption meet onstage.
