Ballet Idaho: The Nutcracker

Ballet Idaho: The Nutcracker at Morrison Center For The Performing Arts

Clara’s holiday adventure turns on one curious choice, and that is what makes Ballet Idaho: The Nutcracker at Morrison Center in Boise so engaging on December 18. The story invites you to follow a familiar character as her evening opens into something larger, giving the ballet a clear thread to watch and a reason to care about what happens next.

Tchaikovsky’s score gives the production its lift, and the live music by the Boise Phil adds another layer to the experience. Seeing music and movement unfold together in person makes the performance feel immediate, especially if you want the chance to share a ballet with someone discovering theater for the first time.

This is a production built around a story many people already know, which can make the details feel even more rewarding when they come alive onstage. The appeal is not just in the title, but in watching the journey of Clara connect holiday tradition with the energy of live performance.

If you want a winter outing that pairs a classic tale with the presence of an orchestra and dancers in the same room, this is a strong pick. It is a chance to settle in, follow the story, and experience the music as part of the moment.
