Ballet Idaho: The Nutcracker

Ballet Idaho: The Nutcracker at Morrison Center For The Performing Arts

Clara doesn't take her holiday adventure alone, she's got the Boise Philharmonic right there with her. When Ballet Idaho performs The Nutcracker on December 19 at Morrison Center for the Performing Arts, you'll watch Tchaikovsky's score and the dancers' movements happen in the same moment, breathing together in real time. There's no recording smoothing over the edges. Every leap syncs with a violin surge. Every snowflake entrance matches the swell of the brass. You're seeing two art forms that were designed for each other finally sharing the same room, and that changes the whole experience.

This is the performance to bring someone who's never seen ballet before. The story gives them something to follow, Clara at a party, a mysterious gift, a battle, a dream, and Tchaikovsky's melodies are already in their head from a hundred Decembers past. They won't feel lost. They'll feel like they're in on something they've somehow always known, watching it unfold with a full orchestra and trained dancers making it all look effortless.

You don't need to explain why music and movement belong together. You just need to be there when they meet.

Listen to how the Boise Phil carries the story forward while the dancers have your eye. Give the music your full attention for a moment, then watch what changes.
