Ballet Idaho: The Nutcracker

Ballet Idaho: The Nutcracker at Morrison Center For The Performing Arts

What happens when a beloved wooden soldier becomes something more? On December 20th at 5:00 PM, Ballet Idaho brings Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker to life at Morrison Center for the Performing Arts, and you'll discover why this holiday tale has captivated audiences for generations. If you've never experienced ballet before, Clara's Christmas Eve adventure offers the perfect introduction, a story everyone recognizes, brought to vivid life through movement and music.

The real magic happens when the Boise Philharmonic takes their seats. Hearing Tchaikovsky's score live transforms familiar melodies into something extraordinary. Those sweeping strings, playful flutes, and triumphant brass don't just accompany the dancers, they become part of the storytelling itself, filling Morrison Center for the Performing Arts with sound that recordings simply cannot capture. The Nutcracker runs December 18 through 23, giving you multiple chances to experience music and movement together.

Bringing someone who's never seen live ballet? You're giving them more than an evening out. You're opening a door to an art form where athletes become artists, where discipline meets imagination, and where a simple wooden nutcracker can crack open an entire world of wonder. That first moment when everything clicks, when they realize what the human body can actually do, stays with people.
