Dustin Nickerson at Knitting Factory Concert House - Boise

How does a simple family errand become a story you have to tell when you get home? Dustin Nickerson finds comedy in that territory. His stand-up comes to Knitting Factory in Boise on February 26. If you've ever had a small inconvenience take over the better part of a day, you already have a way into the kind of everyday irritation his comedy can work with.

Nickerson's debut special is Overwhelmed, and he cohosts Don't Make Me Come Back There with Melissa Nickerson. His comedy draws on marriage, parenting and the ordinary details that can make both feel absurd. In a room, you can hear when a small detail gets a laugh before the story even reaches its turn. It's satisfying to recognize the situation and still be caught off guard by what a comic does with it.

Take the person you usually tell these stories to. You can have a night out where somebody else handles the telling for a change. And if you have different ideas about which part of family life is funniest, that gives you something to compare on the way home. Sometimes laughing about an irritation together is the best part of finally getting an evening away from it.
