Ryan Hamilton at Morrison Center For The Performing Arts

Ryan Hamilton grew up in rural Idaho before finding an audience in the New York stand-up scene. Making Good Time brings him to Boise’s Morrison Center for the Performing Arts on January 22, 2027. If you’ve ever moved away and found yourself explaining where you grew up, there’s a familiar tension in that career path. It’s a good starting point for an evening with a comic who has worked in both worlds.

Hamilton’s Netflix specials include Happy Face and This Just Hit Me. If those are how you found him, a live stand-up show gives you a chance to pay attention to the delivery. Listen for how he takes his time with a setup or lets a pause do some of the work. You may come away with a better sense of what makes a small observation funny.

Take somebody who has never seen Hamilton. They can go in without waiting for a bit they know, and you can find out which small turn in a story gets both of you.

Bring someone who knows Idaho well or a friend who grew up somewhere else. You’ll have different reference points for the same comic, and that can make for a better conversation after the show.
