Isaiah Rashad at Knitting Factory Concert House - Boise

Isaiah Rashad brings Lil Sunny's Awful Road Trip to Knitting Factory in Boise. If you usually follow the beat first, try listening to where Rashad places a phrase against it. A headlining concert gives you time to stay with a rapper's delivery and see which lines you catch when the music has your full attention.

Make a night of it with someone who hears different things in hip-hop. Put on a Rashad track before you go and compare what each of you follows, then see what catches your ear in the room. The Boise stop is a chance to hear him on his own bill and share the performance with someone who will want to talk about it afterward.

There is a reason to go even if you can't recite your favorite track. Try following how Rashad's voice works with the beat instead of testing whether you know every word. The rhythm of a line can be interesting all on its own, and seeing the person delivering it gives you another detail to follow. If you already know the work, a full concert gives you time to notice things you might skip past when you play one song at a time. Let the friend you're taking pick a track before the show and see where your tastes overlap afterward.
