Kyle Kinane

Kyle Kinane at Egyptian Theatre - Boise

A good stand-up story can make you laugh at a detail you would have left out if you were telling it. Kyle Kinane brings his stand-up to the Egyptian Theatre in Boise, where you get the time to follow a premise past the first laugh. If you know him through his special Dirt Nap, this is a reason to see what his delivery feels like when you can hear the room respond alongside you.

The fun of a longer story is that the comic can let you get comfortable before taking it somewhere you didn't think it would go. Listen for the detail that seems like a throwaway when you first hear it. Then see how much it changes the way you hear the rest. The chance to sit through that whole turn is part of what makes a stand-up outing worth planning around.

Take somebody who tends to laugh at a different part of the story than you do. One of you might remember the way a line was said, while the other remembers the thought that made it funny in the first place. Give yourselves time for the whole show and a conversation afterward. There are worse ways to spend a night in Boise than finding out what gets both of you laughing.
