Millennial Choirs & Orchestras: Fall on Your Knees

Millennial Choirs & Orchestras: Fall on Your Knees at Morrison Center For The Performing Arts

Listen for the moment when one generation of singers gives way to another. Millennial Choirs & Orchestras brings Fall on Your Knees to the Morrison Center in Boise, marking its twentieth anniversary with a sacred Christmas concert honoring the birth of Jesus. Children, youth and adults sing with a symphony orchestra.

Carols from around the world, holiday favorites and original arrangements give the concert several ways to mark the season. Try listening for how the younger voices sit against the orchestra and how the sound changes when the full group comes together. Take someone you already share Christmas music with and see which part of the program stays with each of you.

If this music has a place in your family's December, give yourself an evening to sit with it. At home a favorite carol can be part of everything else happening around it. At the concert you can follow what the singers do with the words and what the orchestra adds beneath them. Familiar material gives a first-time listener something to hold onto, while original arrangements give someone who knows the carols well something new to notice. Come together for the music you already share and leave a little room for each person to find a different part of the program.
