The Book Of Mormon

The Book Of Mormon at Morrison Center For The Performing Arts

Picture yourself sitting next to someone who lives for comedy that doesn't apologize, that's the energy filling Morrison Center for the Performing Arts on April 4th when The Book Of Mormon takes the stage. This nine-time Tony-winning musical drops two wide-eyed missionaries into Uganda and watches their sunny certainty collide with a world that refuses to play along. The friction between their earnest faith and the show's unsparing satire creates something you don't find in safer productions: genuine unpredictability.

The Morrison Center setting adds its own layer to the experience. You're watching Broadway-caliber performances in a space intimate enough to catch every reaction, every beat where the wholesome facade cracks open to reveal the show's sharper edges. The explicit language isn't decoration, it's the tool the musical uses to expose the gap between what these characters believe and what they're actually facing.

This is the show you bring someone to when they claim musicals are too soft, too predictable, too safe. It's also the show that reminds you why live theater can do things no other medium attempts, putting sincere idealism and savage comedy in the same scene and letting them fight it out right in front of you.
