The Shark Is Broken
The Shark Is Broken at Boise Little Theater
Your friend who quotes Jaws at every beach trip needs to see this with you. The Shark Is Broken takes you behind the scenes of cinema's most famous killer fish movie, where the real drama wasn't the shark, it was three actors trapped on a boat while everything went wrong. Co-written by Ian Shaw, son of Robert Shaw, with Joseph Nixon, this comedy dramatizes the troubled filming of Jaws, turning production disasters into sharp entertainment. Watch as the actors Robert Shaw, Richard Dreyfuss and Roy Scheider are depicted as characters stuck waiting while the mechanical shark fails, weather delays pile up, and tensions rise between takes.
This isn't a film screening or some Hollywood tribute night. Directed by Curtis Ransom, the play brings backstage Hollywood chaos to an intimate stage setting where you're right there in the boat with them, catching every barb and breakdown. You and your movie-obsessed buddy will love watching these icons bicker, philosophize and slowly lose it while floating around waiting for a robot shark to function. The appeal for film fans is clear: you get the Indianapolis speech you can recite and the behind-the-scenes story you never knew, all played out live.
Performances run January 15 through 30 at Boise Little Theater, with the January 16 show starting at 7:30 PM. Grab your friend who loves Jaws and make it your night to discover what really happened when the cameras stopped rolling.
