The Shark Is Broken

The Shark Is Broken at Boise Little Theater

When a film set starts slipping out of control, every choice gets sharper. The Shark Is Broken turns the troubled making of Jaws into a comedy built on tension, and that gives Boise audiences a smart reason to lean in at Boise Little Theater on January 23.

The production follows three actors who are stuck waiting while a mechanical shark keeps failing and the weather keeps interrupting progress. That pressure lets the scene develop in two directions at once, with one character pushing for momentum and another fighting for patience, so the humor comes from clashing goals as much as from the situation itself.

Film fans will recognize the world behind the camera, but you do not need to know every detail to enjoy the setup. Ian Shaw and Joseph Nixon’s play, directed by Curtis Ransom, keeps the focus on how frustration, ego, and comedy can share the same moment, turning a difficult shoot into a sharp stage story.

This is a live theatre booking, not a screening, so the appeal is in watching the conflict unfold in real time. If you like plays that make conversation feel like action, this one has plenty to hold onto.
