The Shark Is Broken

The Shark Is Broken at Boise Little Theater

At Boise Little Theater, The Shark Is Broken turns a legendary movie set into a pressure-cooker you can watch up close. The play follows the troubled making of Jaws, where a failing mechanical shark and endless delays leave three men trapped together, and the real tension comes through in how they keep trying to outtalk one another.

What makes the night worth seeing in person is the push and pull between the characters Robert Shaw, Richard Dreyfuss, and Roy Scheider. Instead of a polished behind-the-scenes tale, you get a live comedy about waiting, irritation, and ego, with each exchange revealing how quickly the mood can shift when nothing goes according to plan.

Boise, Idaho gets a smart, funny production of Ian Shaw and Joseph Nixon’s play, directed by Curtis Ransom, on Jan 30, 2027. Film fans will recognize the history, but the real hook is watching the performers navigate the same cramped situation from different angles, making every reaction part of the story.

If you want a theater night with a sharp idea and a clear dramatic focus, this is one to catch in the room. The attraction is simple and immediate: three people, one impossible shoot, and the comedy that grows between them.
