A Little Princess

A Little Princess at Boise Little Theater

Sara Crewe’s most interesting choice is the one that keeps her spirit intact when life turns sharply unfair. In John Vreeke’s adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett’s A Little Princess, directed by Nikki Wesselman at Boise Little Theater in Boise on December 17, that choice becomes the heart of a comedy-drama that asks what dignity looks like when everything familiar is taken away.

The story follows Sara as she leaves India for a London school, then faces a sudden drop from privilege after news about her father. That turn gives the play real emotional weight, because it is not just about loss. It is about imagination, kindness, and how a young person can keep going with grace when the world changes without warning.

What makes this outing worth sharing is the conversation it can start afterward. Children can connect to Sara’s resilience, while adults can appreciate the deeper questions about character, patience, and compassion. It is the kind of stage experience that feels warm, thoughtful, and easy to talk about on the way home.

If you want a production that offers both heart and perspective, this is a strong one to see in person. A Little Princess brings a classic story to life in a way that invites reflection without losing its charm.
