A Little Princess

A Little Princess at Boise Little Theater

A girl who arrives with comfort to spare is quickly forced into the opposite. A Little Princess begins with Sara Crewe’s sharp fall from privilege, and that tension gives the story its pull as she leaves India for a London school and faces a life changed by troubling news about her father.

At Boise Little Theater in Boise, Idaho, on December 19, the John Vreeke adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett, directed by Nikki Wesselman, turns that conflict into a clear, human journey. The comedy-drama follows Sara as imagination, kindness, and dignity become her way through hardship, making each turn in her situation matter.

That mix of warmth and difficulty is what makes the outing worth sharing. Children can follow the adventure, while adults can lean into the larger questions beneath it, including how someone keeps her sense of self when everything around her shifts. It is the kind of production that leaves room for reflection long after the scene has changed.

If you want an evening with a story that is both tender and thoughtful, this one gives you plenty to talk about on the way home. It offers heart, contrast, and a classic tale shaped for a live stage audience.
