A Little Princess

A Little Princess at Boise Little Theater

What does a child hold onto when everything comfortable disappears? On December 19, 2026 at 7:30 PM, Boise Little Theater presents A Little Princess, the story of Sara Crewe, who leaves India for a London boarding school only to lose her privileged position after devastating news arrives about her father. This John Vreeke adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett's classic doesn't shy away from real loss while celebrating the imagination and kindness that help one young girl maintain her dignity through genuine hardship.

Director Nikki Wesselman stages the production with theatrical inventiveness that echoes Sara's own creative spirit. You'll watch alongside your children as privilege transforms into poverty and comfort becomes deprivation, yet something essential remains unchanged in Sara's character. That's the conversation waiting for you on the drive home.

This comedy-drama works for all ages precisely because it trusts both adults and children to handle meaningful questions about what truly matters when circumstances turn cruel. The intimate Boise Little Theater setting puts every seat close enough to see how imagination becomes survival, how small acts of generosity outlast cruelty, and how one person's grace under pressure can quietly change everything around her.
