Atmosphere

Atmosphere at Knitting Factory Concert House - Boise

Follow the words for a verse, then listen to where the next rapper puts the beat. Atmosphere's Winter Carnival Tour brings Souls of Mischief, Mac Lethal and Blueprint to the bill in Boise. The range of voices is a reason to hear the whole concert, especially if you came in knowing only one of the names.

A different flow can make you hear the same kind of rhythm in a new way. Try listening for a quick run of syllables, an unexpected pause or a rhyme that lands just a little behind where you thought it would. Go with someone who likes to pick apart those details and compare what you both caught.

The Boise show is at Knitting Factory.

It is worth hearing how the room changes when a new voice comes up. The delivery that makes you lean in for a lyric may be very different from the one that gets you moving, and both can work in the same concert. That is something you can follow without having to know every record on the bill. If you do know the work, try picking a voice you usually hear in a different context and give its set your full attention. The lineup lets you spend one night getting to know the differences instead of settling for a quick sample of each.
