Boise State Theatre Arts: Fahrenheit 451

Boise State Theatre Arts: Fahrenheit 451 at Danny Peterson Theatre at the Morrison Center

Guy Montag burns books for a living. The trouble starts when he begins questioning the job he has been taught to do. Boise State Theatre Arts presents Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 as a staged reading at Danny Peterson Theatre at the Morrison Center on February 5, 2027, at 7:30 PM.

If you read the novel years ago, hearing its ideas voiced in the room gives you a different way back into it. Listen for the distance between what Montag accepts at the beginning and what he is willing to question. A staged reading puts particular weight on how a performer delivers a line and what the people listening make of it. You can follow those choices even if this is your first encounter with the story.

Bring a friend who reads different books than you do. Afterward, ask where each of you first felt Montag’s certainty begin to change. The story gives you a natural starting point for that conversation.

Hearing the text aloud gives you another thing to notice. A pause can make a thought sound more dangerous than it seemed on the page. Listen for the moment Montag begins to question something he used to accept.
