The Sound of Music

The Sound of Music at Morrison Center For The Performing Arts

Remember singing along to "Do-Re-Mi" in the car? On June 9th, you can watch those same songs come alive at Morrison Center when The Sound of Music takes the stage. This is your chance to introduce the next generation to Maria's journey with the von Trapp children, not through a screen, but with live voices filling the theater.

Bringing a friend means you'll have someone to exchange knowing glances with when Maria finally wins over the Captain, and someone who gets why you're both tearing up during "Edelweiss." The magic of Rodgers and Hammerstein's storytelling works differently when you're sitting beside someone experiencing these moments in real time, watching actors transform the familiar into something immediate and new.

Whether your friend is bringing their daughter for her first big musical or you're both reliving your own childhood memories, the theater setting turns this into more than just a show, it becomes the kind of evening you'll reference for years. Music connects Maria and the children as their circumstances change, and hearing those familiar songs as part of a live narrative gives the story new weight. You know those "remember when we saw..." stories? This is how they start.
