The Sound of Music

The Sound of Music at Morrison Center For The Performing Arts

Bring someone whose relationship to The Sound of Music is different from yours, and the evening becomes a conversation as much as a performance. At Morrison Center in Boise, Idaho on June 13, Rodgers and Hammerstein's beloved stage musical follows Maria and the von Trapp family as music helps shape their changing world.

For one guest, the draw may be a remembered classic. For another, it may be the chance to meet the story for the first time and follow Maria as she enters a family that is learning to adapt. That contrast gives the production a special spark, because each scene can land in a different way for each person sitting beside you.

The pleasure deepens when familiar songs are part of a live narrative instead of a memory alone. Watching the story unfold onstage lets you share reactions in real time, whether you are listening for the melodies you know or taking in the drama as a new experience. It is a simple, rewarding reason to gather in person and see how the music carries the family forward.

If you have ever wanted to introduce a younger relative, a friend, or anyone with a fresh perspective, this is a thoughtful choice. The production gives you a chance to connect over a story that bridges generations without asking everyone to arrive with the same history.
