The Sound of Music at Morrison Center For The Performing Arts
You've hummed these songs your whole life, but have you ever watched them actually do something? When The Sound of Music comes to Morrison Center on June 12, 2027, at 7:00 PM, you'll see Rodgers and Hammerstein's melodies work the way they were designed to, as storytelling tools that reveal who Maria is and how she connects with seven guarded children. Every note has a job, and watching it happen live changes songs you thought you knew completely.
This is the perfect moment to bring someone who's never experienced the full story beyond a few famous tunes. The stage version lets a younger family member follow Maria's journey from the beginning, understanding why the music matters to these characters as their world begins shifting around them. Live theatre turns familiar moments into discoveries.
You'll catch new details in the orchestration, see how the songs build the relationship between Maria and the children, and remember why this musical has introduced generations to the power of a melody that means something.
The story also has room for someone who is coming to it fresh. Watch how Maria finds a way to connect with the children before they have much reason to trust her.
