Cat Clyde & Dean Johnson

Cat Clyde & Dean Johnson at Treefort Music Hall

Two songwriters who couldn't sound more different share one stage November 29 at Treefort Music Hall, and the contrast makes both voices sharper.

Canadian songwriter Cat Clyde wraps her words around melody like smoke curling through pine branches—her fourth full-length Mud Blood Bone marks her first release on Concord Records, proving her quiet intensity scales from basement shows to proper label backing. Dean Johnson takes the opposite route with I Hope We Can Still Be Friends on Saddle Creek, landing each phrase with the weight of something you'd only say after midnight. Neither writer hides behind production tricks or studio polish.

What happens at 7:00 PM isn't about harmony or collaboration—it's about watching two completely different people solve the same problem of making a room full of strangers feel something true. Clyde's phrasing moves like water finding cracks. Johnson's delivery hits like fist meeting table. You'll hear both approaches in one night, standing in the same Idaho venue where the sound bounces off real walls instead of coming through earbuds.

Focus on the contrast between the two writers and hearing their phrasing in person. No duet, no collaboration—just two voices revealing how different two people can be when they're trying to do the same thing. Grab your tickets for Cat Clyde and Dean Johnson at Treefort Music Hall.
