Hazlett

Hazlett at Treefort Music Hall

Hazlett's quieter songs give you a reason to lean in. The Australian-born, Sweden-based indie folk songwriter comes to Boise after last night you said you missed me, a record that finds room for distance and hope in stripped-back ballads. Blame The Moon gives you a way into his recorded work before the show.

Take someone who likes hearing a lyric land without a lot of sound around it. Compare the details each of you notices when you listen together, whether a phrase sticks with you or the pace changes the feeling of the words. It is an outing for people who like to give a songwriter their full attention.

The Boise show is at Treefort Music Hall.

There is a difference between putting a quiet record on while you cook and making a night out of listening to a songwriter. In the room, you can give a line time to finish and notice what the singer leaves around it. That space is part of the attraction here. If you're new to Hazlett, try one of the recorded ballads before you go, then leave the rest for the concert. If you already know the work, bring somebody who has had a song keep them company across a long distance. You'll have a place to start talking about what you heard.
